Fluffy Thanksgiving Dinner Rolls

November 17, 2016

I made these soft dinner rolls with the addition of browned butter and sage. The sage flavor is very subtle and the browned butter adds a wonderful earthy flavor. The two ingredients make them set them apart from the usual, classic dinner rolls. Why not add a little extra bling-bling for a great Thanksgiving (or other) feast.   Besides, who doesn’t like browned butter and sautéed sage? Well, at least… continue reading »

Lazy People’s Ice Cream (no-churn, no eggs)

July 22, 2016

No-churn, no eggs, and only three ingredients: This ice cream is a real game changer. It’s ridiculously easy and quick to throw together, and yet so delicious. With this recipe, making ice cream is a 5-minute job rather than a weekend project. Seriously. You don’t need an ice cream maker to churn the ice cream, nor do you have to return obsessively to the freezer to stir. You don’t need to… continue reading »

Green Smoothie Bowl

June 28, 2016

Ever since I’ve tried my first green smoothie, I got hooked. Well, let’s say my first green smoothie that actually did look like a green smoothie. About one year ago, I developed a green smoothie recipe for the Austrian daily I am writing for. At my first attempt, I added way too much leafy greens to the smoothie and didn’t use a high-speed blender. Can you imagine how that turned out? Well,… continue reading »

Black Bean, Mango, and Arugula Tacos

June 6, 2016

These Tacos are perfect for when friends come over. Everybody can assemble his own tacos according to the personal preferences, and the preparations are finished in a couple of minutes. Yes, really! And if you don’t feel like making your own white bean dip (it’s really quick and easy though), you can use a store-bought spread like hummus instead. I love the combination of warm and cold, of savory and… continue reading »

Orange Muffins

April 8, 2016

I simply love the combination of oranges and almonds – particularly in cakes. And what’s not to love about this combo? Ever since I have developed this gorgeous tasting Blood Orange Almond Cake about a year ago, I am including these two ingredients in all sorts of cakes. These orange muffins are a new favorite of mine, so it’s high time to post the recipe before orange season is over… continue reading »

Cacao Banana Smoothie Bowl

March 7, 2016

As I have noticed on Instagram, “nice cream” is everywhere. This vegan ice cream made out of frozen bananas, which is probably not a new concept to you, but was a revelation to me. A healthy dessert that tastes like chocolate but is vegan and sugar free?? Jackpot! This raw cacao banana bowl has become one of my regulars already. Whenever I am craving something chocolaty, I’ll try a bowl… continue reading »

Cheese Dip with Bacon and Beer

February 5, 2016

David and I couldn’t agree on if the Quick Cheese Dip or this one would be the most delicious. And with that I am not saying, one of us favors one dip and one the other dip. No, neither of us could pick a favorite. Both were simply too delicious. So we settled on the Quick Cheese Dip to be our new weekday favorite – you know, ‘cause it is quick… continue reading »

Quick Cheese Dip

February 2, 2016

So  this is it, the dip I’ve dreamed of: Easy, quick and soooo delicious … a new weekday favorite. Poor lactose-intolerant people!   This cheese dip is basically a béchamel sauce with the addition of sharp cheddar. I used orange-colored sharp cheddar in this recipe, but feel free to experiment with any other cheese. Sharp ones are best but I’ve even tried this dip with mozzarella, when I ran out… continue reading »

The Fluffiest Pretzel Bites

February 1, 2016

As you may know, I am writing a cooking column about US food for an Austrian newspaper. Yes, Austrians are also allowed to do so ;-) I have been writing this column for almost two years now and the readers don’t seem to get tired so far – no, surprisingly they are getting more and more enthusiastic about American food. Yay! As next Sunday is time to watch Super Bowl… continue reading »

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

December 20, 2015

When I saw these cookies for the first time, I knew immediately that I would have to make them. I noticed them on America’s Test Kitchen Instagram account and they looked sooo pretty, though simple to make. Two days later I could call a batch of these pretty babies mine. They taste gorgeous, with their rich chocolate flavor, almost Brownie-like, and their super moist center makes you reach for the next one in no time…. continue reading »

Apple Cider Caramels

November 15, 2015

These apple cider caramels are simply amazing! They are chewy and soft at the same time and boast intense apple flavor. I always sprinkle some coarse sea salt ontop – it pairs so well with the sweet caramel. Simply deeellllliiiiicccciioooouussss!!! You will find apple cider everywhere right now here in New England: at restaurants, farmers markets and of course at every supermarket. Btw, I am talking about soft apple cider… continue reading »

Homemade Ketchup

September 30, 2015

Tomato season is in its peak. Some of us are lucky and have a garden or some space to grow their own tomatoes. My parents for example. Lucky me to be in Austria right now to visit my parents and right in time to eat all their aromatic veggies. This summer was extremely hot in Austria and apparently tomatoes like this kind of climate. The harvest has never been better… continue reading »
