It’s no surprise that I am a huge fan of strawberry smoothies. Honestly, who isn’t. This strawberry banana smoothie my go-to recipe if I am craving something sweet but don’t want to go down the chocolate route.
This naturally sweet 3-ingredient strawberry banana smoothie is simply amazing. It’s so tasty, fruity, creamy, and sweet that you wouldn’t believe it’s sugar-free.
Besides my Healthy Strawberry Smoothie – I posted the recipe two years ago – which only contains 2-ingredients, this is the smoothie I throw together most often during strawberry season.
If strawberries are not in season, you can add frozen ones instead. And if your blender is not of the powerful kind, simply omit the ice cubes and go for the frozen banana option (instead of frozen strawberries). Additionally, let the frozen banana pieces thaw for 10 minutes to make it easier on the blender.
Also, if you don’t have orange juice on hand, use any other liquid like almond milk or (coconut) water. Almost anything goes. The orange juice adds a lot of the sweetness though. Enjoy!
Oh, and if you want to try my Healthy 2-ingredient strawberry smoothie, here you go.
This naturally sweet 3-ingredient strawberry banana smoothie is a winner. It’s so tasty, fruity, creamy, vegan, and sweet. In fact, this is the perfect sugar-free dessert replacement.
One of the fruits, either the strawberries or the banana, should be frozen for a cold and creamy smoothie. If strawberries are not in season, you can add frozen ones instead. If you don’t own a powerful blender, simply omit the ice cubes and go for the frozen banana option (instead of frozen strawberries). Let them thaw for 10 minutes to make it easier for the blender. Also, if you don’t have orange juice on hand, use any other liquid like almond milk or (coconut) water. The orange juice adds a lot of the sweetness though.
Ingredients
- 200 g/7 oz (about 1 + 1/3 cups or 10 medium) fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 frozen banana, sliced
- 1/2 cup orange juice (preferably freshly squeezed but from a carton is fine too if no sugar is added)
- Some ice cubes, optional
Instructions
- Add strawberries, banana, and orange juice to a blender, and puree until smooth.
- Add some ice cubes if you like and blend again. Add more liquid (water, orange juice) if the smoothie is too thick. Serve immediately.

Hello, I was just wondering how many calories would roughly be in each serving. I used 1/2 a cup of smooth orange juice by the way.
Hi Lucy, I usually don’t add the calories because I am not a nutritionist but I quickly ran it through a calculater and given that the recipe makes 2 servings, each serving is 113 cal. [ no liability assumed ;-) ]. Enjoy!
